July 2024 Employee of the Month

It is with great pleasure that we honor Jazarai Perkins, Project Specialist in Safe & Healthy Kids, as the July 2024 Employee of the Month.

Jaz (as we all know her) is 100% invested in making sure youth are loved and cared for in our programs. Since her first time as an Expanded Learning Tutor, then Site Lead and now Project Specialist with the FCSS PRIME Program (which stands for Prevent, Inform, Mentor, and Empower). She has led from the front and encouraged students to do the same. Her genuine care for youth shines through as she trains school site staff and their local community in ways to motivate and educate themselves about how to choose health, safety and community over negative influences. 

Even as a new Site Lead at Houghton Kearney she was known for showing up before her program time and helped in whatever ways she could. This exceptional work ethic and dedication to improvement are what led her to FCSS and to the PRIME team. 

For the last three years, Jaz has helped develop PRIME team’s relationships with districts throughout Fresno County. She teaches staff, students and community members about tobacco prevention, prescription drug awareness and community building.

Her love for the community has shown as she used her strategic thinking and experience to co-plan You Matter Day in 2023 and 2024 in partnership with Every Monday Matters and OK Produce. This event is no small feat, requiring her to recruit and plan community service projects for more than 1,000 students. Her work is truly exceptional.
