Castro honored as April Employee of the Month

It is with pleasure that FCOE honored Roberto Castro, Director of LCAP and Compliance in Educational Services, as the April 2016 Employee of the Month.

Roberto is an exemplary employee who has gone above-and-beyond in every position he has held since joining the Fresno County Office of Education in 2006. As a coordinator of program improvement and an instructional coach, he was able to help districts achieve stellar academic programs with competent leadership.

His current work as the Director of LCAP and Compliance is a challenging position of navigating new processes in district funding and program descriptions. Roberto brings his intelligence, collaborative style and respect for fellow educational leaders to make the implementation of the new LCAP requirements as positive as possible.

“This is complex work,” said Roberto. “Our job is to make sense of all the rules so the districts can focus on capacity building, doing their job right and helping children.”

Roberto has always taken on the role of supporting districts by helping them understand the requirements of state and federal funding to best serve the students in their schools. He has built a network of positive relationships with the personnel in the districts that rely on his expertise. Recently, Roberto’s stellar job performance was recognized by the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators at their conference in Washington, DC.

Outside of work, Roberto is a devoted husband to Cherri of 40 years and father to Linda and Roberto. He has four grandkids ranging in ages from 2 to 10 years, keeping him busy with trips to Disneyland, an evening at the Monster Trucks and other grandpa fun.

“This is a great place to work,” said Roberto of his tenure at FCOE. “I always hoped sometime in my career I’d wake up and enjoy going to work every day.”
