Jacobo honored as June Employee of the Month
It is with pleasure that we honor Dr. Amber Jacobo, Coordinator in the Data and Assessments department, as the June 2018 Employee of the Month.
Amber has only been with the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools for four years, but she has made an incredible impact. First hired as the Local Planning Control Coordinator for the Early Care and Education department, she brought into focus the critical importance of data-driven decision making relative to strategic planning for supports and services to children ages 0-12. Working with county departments such as health and social services, as well as key partners such as First 5 Fresno County, Amber paved the way for significant improvements.
FCSS recognized Amber’s unique skill set and created a position to better meet the needs of school districts in regard to data collection, analysis and sharing. She provides professional development to teachers and administrators seeking to build their capacity in understanding and using data in their schools. She works directly with school district data managers to interpret their student data and make schoolwide decisions about curriculum and instruction. Amber also works closely with her supervisor, Dr. Corey Greenlaw, to analyze county data trends.
In addition, Amber represents FCSS as an essential member of the Cradle-2-Career community action network, which engages cross-sector representatives from government, health, civic, faith-based and other institutions. Her contributions to C2C have been considerable and she is a highly respected member.
“Nobody can do it by themselves,” said Amber of her work with C2C. “It takes all of us talking about coming together to align resources and policies on how to better serve children and families. We’ve come so far.”
