January Superintendent’s Superstar shines
Margarita Gonzalez is a senior at Riverdale High School. She is an outstanding student with a GPA of 4.3 while being tremendously involved at her school in athletics, academics and extra-curricular activities. She has served as President of the Cancer Awareness Club, Class Vice President, CSF Vice President and taken 13 AP/Honors level courses during her high school career. Through her dedication to cancer awareness, Margarita accepted leadership positions and created school fundraisers to benefit cancer awareness and research.
She has been involved in a variety of organizations and activities such as Leo’s Club, FFA, Upward Bound, AVID, Drama Club, Link Crew, Book Club, Canned Food Drive, Pennies for Patients and 4-H. Margarita has also contributed to RHS as an athlete in volleyball, soccer and softball.
In addition to her contributions at school, Margarita is also active in her community. She has volunteered with St. Ann’s Vacation Bible School and the Adventist Health Volunteer Summer Program. She has volunteered at the Radiology and Nursing departments at Hanford Hospital, where she assisted with paperwork and basic patient care. This experience motivated her to attend a four-year university with a science-based major with the goal to attend medical school. Her long-term goal is to become a pediatric oncologist.
