Kinsey shares history of African American culture and art with students

The Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools hosted An Evening with Bernard, Shirley and Khalil Kinsey on Monday, Feb. 13 at the Paul Shaghoian Theater. The Kinseys presented “The Kinsey Collection: Where Art and History Intersect.” The family is world-renowned for their collection of African American art and history. Their private collection was recently curated by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The Kinseys also served as the keynote speakers at the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of School’s African American Student Leadership Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the William Saroyan Theater. More than 1,000 students attended the conference, which included workshops on the theme, “Being the Change We were Destined to Be.” The conference also included College and Career Fair featuring representation from 27 Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
