The “Magic is Believing” welcomes FCOE Staff to a New School Year!

More than 700 employees filled the Saroyan Theater on August 23rd to renew friendships with colleagues, applaud and recognize Employees of the Month, 25- year inductees, Pillar Award winners - and for the first time – hear words and thoughts from newly appointed superintendent of schools, Jim Yovino.

The annual charge session is designed to motivate and inspire, and this year, keynoter Billy Riggs reminded attendees that each employee, regardless of position or duties, is ultimately working to change the lives and destiny of children. Highlighting the afternoon was a special signed rendition of “I Believe I Can Fly,” performed by the True Colors Choir, under the direction of Debora Washington and Angel Gonzales.  The Above and Beyond Award was presented to the entire Multimedia Services team and Board of Education member, Delbert Cederquist, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Superintendent Yovino summed it up beautifully, “When it comes to magic, there is nothing more powerful than the collective abilities of our FCOE family.”
