Migrant Banquet Celebrates Student Scholars

On Friday, May 11, 2012, The Fresno County Office of Education’s Migrant Education Program, Region IV, hosted its Annual Honor Student Recognition Banquet at TorNino’s, with more than 100 students, families, staff and community members in attendance.

Each year, the Region IV Parent Advisory Council, in collaboration with local partners and sponsors, raises money to award scholarships to alleviate the numerous challenges Migrant students face. This year, 14 seniors, all accepted to 4-year universities, were recognized for academic achievement and outstanding high school accomplishment.

The Migrant Education Program continues to offer programs to promote student achievement, leadership, self advocacy, and citizenship and assists children of migrant workers to overcome barriers, such as mobility, language, economic, academic, and social issues.
