‘Picture the Valley’ student festival showcases short films

Short films created entirely by students in grades six through 12 were celebrated at the “Picture the Valley” student film festival on Tuesday, April 8 at the Clovis Memorial Auditorium. The event, coordinated by the Fresno County Office of Education, was designed to allow teachers to use this project as a classroom or an after-school activity.

There were more than 60 submissions from schools throughout Fresno County. Teams included up to four students who directed, produced and edited the short films. Video categories were: Documentary, Personal Narrative and Public Service Announcement. Films highlighted the various attributes of the Central Valley that make this area unique.

The winning team members of the grades six through eight junior division and grades nine through 12 senior division each received an iPod Touch and the teacher/coach each received an iPad Air. The winning videos are displayed on the FCOE event website at www.picturethevalley.org.
