ROP Fall Conference Inspires its Attendees

With "Remembering Our Passion, Reaching Our Purpose" as its theme the annual Fresno ROP Fall Conference was held September 28, 2011.  Following Superintendent Powell's keynote message, professional development sessions addressed key Fresno ROP concerns, including reading strategies (Beth Lederach, Clovis Unified), career management skills and social media issues (Manjit Singh/FCOE), business/industry partnerships (Bill Magnusson, Firebaugh/Las Deltas Unified and Linda Jean Voth, Fresno Unified), and classroom technology/ challenge based learning (Mark Hammons/FCOE). Additionally, Fresno ROP staff members Cherie McCumber (finance/accounting) and Catherine Pfister (attendance/record management) provided expert sessions for district staff in these two vital accountability concerns.

According to Valerie Vuicich, Fresno ROP’s Administrator, "Over the years, we have learned that the old adage, that, 'good teachers like to teach to and be taught by other good teachers' holds true.  Because we have great teachers, this conference was guaranteed to be a success.”
