Stages annual 'Informance' encourages community dialogue
The Fresno County Office of Education Visual and Performing Arts department hosted the 2015 Stages “Informance” titled “I. Am. Here.” in July at Fresno City College in the Theatre Arts Building.
The students researched and presented theatrical pieces on the topics of racism in the 21st Century and foster care in America. The goals of the program were to creatively communicate information about these topics and encourage ways to develop community solutions to these challenging issues.
Stages is a two-week summer youth theatre project designed to provide writing and theatre education opportunities for high school students at no charge. The first week was held at Camp Sequoia Lake, developing skills in movement, acting, writing and improvisation. The second week, students met at Fresno City College to rehearse and perform their original theatre piece written at camp.
