Summer theater group performs original piece at Fresno City College
The Fresno County Office of Education’s Visual and Performing Arts department hosted the 2016 Stages “Informance” titled “A Brand New Day” on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Fresno City College in the Theater Arts Building.
The focus of the performance was on suicide prevention and mental health for teens. FCOE partnered with the Suicide Prevention Hotline, California Mental Health Services Authority and several other agencies geared toward breaking the stigma around mental health.
Stages is a free two-week youth theater project held every summer designed to provide writing and educational theater opportunities for high school students in Fresno County. The first week is at Camp Oakhurst developing skills in movement, acting, writing and improvisation. During the second week, students meet at Fresno City College to rehearse and perform the original devised theater piece written at camp.
