Superintendent's Superstar honored monthly for 'giving heart'
Students with a giving heart for their community are honored as a Superintendent’s Superstar at the monthly Fresno County Board of Education meeting. These students are recognized in front of the Board and receive a special T-shirt and certificate. The recognition program was initiated by Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Jim Yovino.
“Our community is filled with children who have servant hearts,” said Yovino. “These youth spread joy to those less fortunate by volunteering their time.”
The August 2015 Superintendent’s Superstars were Joseph Ochoa and Janice Castrejon from the Fowler Unified School District Summer Enrichment program. They volunteered their time over the summer to join more than 500 students in the restoration of Storyland.
Features about the Superintendent’s Superstar appear monthly on KMPH FOX 26 during its 10 p.m. news broadcast.
