Yovino sworn in as 21st Superintendent of Schools
Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Jim Yovino took his oath of office on Jan. 8, beginning his four-year term as a “champion” for all children by advocating for career technical education and the arts, as well as addressing issues of poverty, intervention, civility, homelessness and the importance of early education.
“This evening is also a special opportunity to celebrate the partnerships we have made together to engage our community,” he said. “I’ve met so many people in both the private and business sectors who want to participate in improving the lives of the children of our county through education.”
Superintendent Yovino was sworn in by Dr. Noel Smith in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Fresno County Office of Education. The evening’s program included performances by the Bullard TALENT Balladeers and the Fresno County Youth Choir.
