January 2023 Superintendent’s Superstar

Kaylah Beltran

Kaylah Beltran is in sixth grade at John C. Martinez Elementary School in Parlier Unified School District. While in fifth grade, Kaylah participated in the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Young Author’s Faire, where she received an Honorable Mention for her book, “My Anxiety Journey.”

In the book, Kaylah bravely shares her story and experience with anxiety that started during the pandemic with the goal of helping other young students. Her positive and brave message is an inspiration and a call for hope and perseverance to others, especially young children.

The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health published 1,250 of her books to be distributed in January by FCSS to every fifth-grade classroom in Fresno County.

In addition to being a published author, Kaylah plays soccer, volleyball and basketball and is a cheerleader. She has her own business, Kaylah’s Bundt Cakes, that she started during the pandemic. During the holiday season, Kaylah uses proceeds from her business to purchase gifts for two foster children.
