It is with pleasure that we honor Joanne Lauria, Speech Language Pathologist in Special Education, as the April 2023 Employee of the Month.
One definition of “institution” is “something or someone firmly associated with a place or thing.” Joanne is the “someone” and FCSS is “the place.” Joanne will be completing her 43rd year as a Speech Language Pathologist for FCSS, having served all those years at Orange Center Elementary. She has also supported many other districts and sites during her incredible tenure.
Additionally, Joanne has served under six Fresno County Superintendents. She shared that the highlight of her career is the accumulation of many little achievements, such as a student correctly producing letter sounds for the first time, getting visits from former students who are now adults and genuinely helping people.
In addition to loving her students, Joanne adores her cat, Max, and is an exceptional cake baker, often making and decorating special cakes for department celebrations.
