January 2024 Employee of the Month
It is with pleasure that we honor Andrew Moreno, ROP Environmental Horticulture Instructor at the Alice M. Worsley School, as the January 2024 Employee of the Month.
Andrew embodies the core values of the FCSS belief to “Change lives, one future at a time.” He has made an immeasurable impact on the school, particularly through his pioneering efforts to establish the Career and Technical Education Horticulture Program on the campus, creating a unique and transformative educational experience for his students. Andrew’s work in nurturing the school garden has not only enriched the physical environment, but has also touched the lives of countless students.
Andrew has provided students with a therapeutic and nurturing environment that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. He has shown them the fragility and beauty of life through the gardens they grow and care for. This hands-on experience has taught the students valuable life lessons about responsibility, patience and the interconnectedness of all living things. It’s not just about horticulture; it’s about cultivating young hearts and minds.
Andrew consistently goes above and beyond to create opportunities for students to participate in experiences that not only develop their horticulture skills, but also expose them to authentic life experiences outside of the classroom. One remarkable example of this is Andrew’s annual project of beautifying the landscape at the Fresno County Fairgrounds. Through this community partnership, fairgoers are treated to imaginatively landscaped grounds, designed and planted by Andrew and his students. This yearly opportunity not only enhances the community, but also provides students with a tangible sense of accomplishment and pride.
