Summer enrichment program students restore Storyland
More than 500 middle school students in grades 6 through 8 from Fresno County Office of Education summer enrichment programs participated in restoring Storyland through early July. This project was part of their community service and included cleaning up the grounds and planting foliage.
The students were enrolled in Afterschool University, which is administered at California State University, Fresno. This program is funded by a grant through FCOE in partnership with the California Teaching Fellows Foundation. The majority of the students were from Fresno Unified School District, but the group also included students from Clovis, Kerman, Fowler, Selma, Washington Colony, West Park Elementary and Washington Union school districts.
Fresno County Office of Education’s Safe and Healthy Kids department provides after-school programs to more than 40,000 students in Fresno County. FCOE’s summer enrichment programs serve more than 3,500 students.
