Superintendent’s Superstar: Devoted to school and community
Congratulations to Ariana Mikel, senior at Edison High School, as the June 2022 Superintendent’s Superstar. Ariana excels not only in her academic achievements, but also in school involvement and community service. She is a student leader, devoting an enormous number of hours serving her school. She also participates in sports, including varsity track/soccer, as well as cheerleading. She has a GPA of 3.62.
Ariana has been active in the Black Student Union Leadership Club on her campus for the past four years, currently serving at Secretary. Within Fresno Unified School District, Ariana has participated in the African American Student Leadership Academy Program for the past three years. She has been a part of the Black Students of California United organization since eighth grade and has served as the student President for the past two years.
In addition, Ariana has participated in MeCha, Theater Club and Edison High School Allies. She also served on Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Jim Yovino’s African American Student Advisory Cabinet for two years.
Ariana plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in the field of Sports Administration. Her goal upon graduation is to become a sports manager on a collegiate level to help student athletes who hope to make it professionally.
