Allen honored as February Employee of the Month
It is with pleasure that the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools honors Rebecca Allen, Special Day Class Teacher in the Special Education department, as the February 2018 Employee of the Month.
Allen exudes an unbelievable kindness toward everyone she encounters. She worked as a paraprofessional in the CIRCLE program for several years before returning to school to obtain her special education teaching credential. She is now in her fifth year as an SDC Teacher – Autism for the CIRCLE program.
Allen’s relationship with the students, paraprofessionals, parents and her supervisors is commendable. During Individualized Education Program meetings, she never misses the opportunity to listen to parents and show genuine interest in their concerns.
In addition to her remarkable character, Allen is an organized and effective teacher. When you enter her classroom, you will see structured stations, common core standards references, visual schedules and high student engagement. Individual student data binders contain the goals and objectives for each student and she records progress daily during teacher stations.
Allen takes great pride in the display of student work, which is visible throughout the classroom. She is always striving for excellence and finding ways to ensure that her students are part of the larger school community. She goes above-and-beyond by researching fun and exciting field trips for her students, including a trip to the Fossil Discovery Center which corresponded with a unit she was conducting.
“Every child deserves support to reach his or her full potential,” said Allen. “I love being creative and finding ways to reach them, as well as appreciating exactly who they are.”
