FCSS enters new regional partnership with Code.org

The Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools announced its new regional partnership with Code.org on Dec. 7 at a news conference at Bitwise Industries in downtown Fresno. This partnership will expand computer science education in Fresno County.

As a Code.org regional partner, FCSS will provide training for computer science teachers in middle and high schools in specialized curriculum. Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to increasing access to computer science in schools, especially to underrepresented groups such as women and students of color.

“Computer science is foundational for every industry today, yet most schools don’t teach it,” said Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Jim Yovino. “At FCSS, we are trying to change that.”
