Fresno County Youth Choir creates multicultural harmony

The Fresno County Youth Choir, directed by Aaron Bryan, performed their final performance of the 2015 season in July at Fresno City College. This year’s concert theme was “I AM HERE.” During the summer, the choir performed at many venues throughout Fresno and Clovis, as well as a trip to San Diego for a variety of performances.

In addition to time spent working on their music, the choir researched the topics of foster and elder care in America, specifically seeking ways in which students can make a positive impact on their communities. “I AM HERE” inspired the community through powerful musical and spoken word performances.

The FCYC is an auditioned honor group of singers, ages 16-26, recruited from 34 public high schools, three community colleges and two universities in Fresno County. The focus of the group is on modern multicultural music that reflects the diverse communities of the Central Valley, with an emphasis on the works of local composers. This high-energy group often incorporate drama, dance and visual art into their performances.

The Fresno County Youth Choir is made possible by the support of the Fresno County Office of Education. The mission of the choir is to create multicultural harmony through music that fills the heart, lifts the soul and changes lives.
