March Superintendent’s Superstars shine
This month five high school seniors who are members of the Superintendent’s African American Student Advisory Council were honored:
Avery Boyd attends Central High East Campus. He has a 3.0 GPA, helped lead the varsity football team to a Valley championship win and also plays varsity basketball. He plans to attend Fresno State.
Joshuoa Williams attends Roosevelt High School. He plays football, basketball and baseball. He also participates in drums at the Roosevelt School of Arts and is a member of the Black Student Union council. He hopes to receive an athletic scholarship to college or join the Marines.
Christian Wood attends Clovis North High School. He is a member of the track team and competes in the 100, 200 and long jump. Woods is completing his sixth AP course and plans to attend Northridge University or Long Beach State.
Devontae Massey attends Washington Union High School. He has been a leader in the Black Student Union and the captain of numerous sports teams. He plans to attend Clark University.
Nyasia Fields attends Washington Union High School. She has been very involved in the Black Student Union and is a student of the Law and Justice Institute. She plans to attend UC Merced.
