Migrant students compete in state speech and debate tournament
The Fresno County Office of Education’s Migrant Education Region IV hosted the Sixth Annual Migrant State Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, May 14 at Washington Union High School. This was the first time the state tournament was hosted in Fresno County. More than 400 students competed from all regions of California.
The tournament offered migrant students an opportunity to compete academically in a safe and supportive environment. It also provided migrant students the chance to enhance their critical thinking, research and public speaking skills. The state tournament was a competition between students who placed first in their respective categories in each region.
