Verdict is in: Clovis High Wins 2013 Fresno County Mock Trial
During the Fresno County Mock Trial competition, over 250 students in rotating roles through six nights of competition argued “People v. Vega,” a hypothetical case where Adrian Vega, a prominent resident and child of the city’s mayor, is charged with felony hit-and-run. Before actual presiding judges and attorney scorers, 14 teams competed in hard-fought legal battles to determine which side, defense or prosecution, would reign. Clovis High went undefeated in six rounds of county competition.
After winning the Fresno County 2013 competition, Clovis High School’s Mock Trial team travelled to Riverside for the State Finals competition March 22-24. Thirty-four teams competed in the State Finals and Clovis High's team took home the 4th place spot. Team teacher-coach, Andy Dominguez, spent countless hours guiding the team. Attorney coaches Robert Mangano and Timothy O’Connor worked tirelessly to help the team achieve their best finish yet.
In addition, three Clovis High team members took home special awards:
Merel Dagher won "Outstanding Defense Pretrial Attorney."
Ridge Riley won "Outstanding Defense Witness," portraying Dallas Decamp.
Sarah Kutzner won "Outstanding Prosecution Witness" portraying Cameron Douglas.
