Villa honored as February Employee of the Month
It is with pleasure that we honor Veronica Villa, Paraeducator II in the Special Education department, as the February 2019 Employee of the Month.
Veronica has dedicated 16 years to the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools’ special needs students. During that time, she has demonstrated love and compassion to students on a daily basis.
Veronica often goes beyond the scope of her job requirements by coming in on her non-duty days to assist students during the 8th grade promotion ceremony at Kerman Middle School. She translates for Spanish-speaking parents on matters that are not related to school. Veronica uses her own resources to provide clothes and other necessities to students in need. She also participates in autism and breast cancer walks and events, two causes that are very dear to her heart.
Veronica is hard working and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with staff, parents and students. Her skills as a Paraeducator go beyond helping the teacher. She implements lessons, behavior interventions and evidence-based practices to ensure that students have a safe and engaging school environment. Veronica genuinely celebrates students achievement and motivates them to try harder, instilling in them confidence in themselves and their skills.
“I feel like I’m helping them,” said Veronica of her students. “Even if they don’t tell me, I see by their actions they’re learning and that’s enough for me.”
