December Employee of the Month

It is with pleasure that we honor Laura Garza, Administrative Assistant in Facilities & Operations, as the December 2022 Employee of the Month.

In the fast-paced and often changing world of the Facilities & Operations department, having a solid anchor keeping the ship steady is essential. That anchor is Laura. She is the behind-the-scenes force that keeps the department focused and organized with clarity in all they do. 

Laura may prefer to be out of the spotlight, but her contribution to the department’s mission of providing spaces that support students and staff is substantial. She is the leader in the Facilities & Operations office and has knowledge of all back-office operations that she shares with the rest of the team. From work requests to contracts to floor monitor training, Laura knows it all!

Although she has a quiet personality, Laura is constantly thinking about how to make operations more efficient and actively participates in meetings, whether it is a weekly department project meeting or the CORE cabinet assistant meetings. She is always prepared. Laura is also a great planner with a desire to make everyone feel welcome. In planning an upcoming quarterly department meeting, she took the initiative to help recognize the uniqueness of each person. 

Outside of the office, Laura is devoted to her family. Her husband, Ray, and two young children, Austin and Aubrey, are the loves of her life. Spending quality time with them in Morro Bay is her favorite pastime.
