August 2023 Employee of the Month

It is with pleasure that we honor Dominic Johnson, Lead Data Automation Specialist in the Student Services Division, as the August 2023 Employee of the Month.

Dominic exhibits patience, support and attentiveness in his daily interactions with not only the FCSS Special Education Local Plan Area team, but most importantly to its 31 Local Education Agencies and 17 charters in our district and charter SELPA. He is an incredible resource to our district/charter special education data and CALPADS staff. 

Dominic’s timely responses are delivered with such grace and patience. This is evident by the number of comments his team receives from LEA administrators, such as “Dominic is amazing” and “We are so grateful to Dominic.” During CALPADS certification reporting, there are times when the CALPADS and SEIS systems may have glitches and everyone is concerned about submitting their data. Dominic has a knack for keeping everyone calm and walking them through the steps to complete their submissions.

With all the changes at the state level regarding special education data, merging of special education data with CALPADS, including the new CALPADS redesign, Dominic has taken it a step further in the level of support and resources he provides to district/charter staff. He has added monthly office hours for SPED data staff to check in for trouble-shooting questions or to network with other LEA/charter staff. Dominic has also created short informational/tutorial videos for SPED data reporting, as well as one-page guides to assist staff.

Dominic models what an FCSS team player truly is – he is welcoming, helpful, thoughtful and goes above-and-beyond for our SELPA team, as well as our SELPA members.
